Words: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday said that the BJP has been a different kind of party and that is why people have chosen the party, but if we continue to do what the Congress used to do, then their exit and our entry will be of no use.
Gadkari was addressing the BJP Goa executive meeting in Taleigao on Friday, which was attended by the party’s Goa unit president Sadanand Tanavade, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, among others.
In his 40-minute speech, Gadkari recalled senior BJP leader LK Advani’s statement that “the BJP is a different party”.
“Advaniji used to say that we are a different party. We have to understand how different we are from other parties,” he said.
The Union Minister said that people elected BJP because of the mistakes of Congress and if we make the same mistakes, then there is no point in their exit and our entry.
“Therefore, in the coming days, the cadres must know that politics is the instrument to achieve social economic reforms,” he said.
Gadkari said that we (BJP) have to create a corruption-free country and that is why we must have a plan for it.
Referring to Maharashtra politics, Gadkari said that there is a tendency to do caste-based politics (Jatiyvadi rajkaran) in Maharashtra. “I have decided not to follow this trend. I have told people that I will not stick to caste or religion (Jaat-Paat). Jo karega jat ki baat, usko padegi kaske laath (anyone who talks about caste will get a hard kick),” he said.
Gadkari said that no person is better because of his caste but because of his values.
Addressing the Goa cadres, Gadkari urged them to visit each constituency and strengthen the party’s organisation so that the BJP forms the government in the 2027 Goa assembly elections.
