Restaurant posts ‘devastating’ mistake in ad: can you spot it?

A restaurant has apologized after a crude image made its way into one of its ads.

Chiaro’s Pizza & Restaurant in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, recently posted an ad hoping to showcase its “award-winning pizzas and sandwiches.”

The ad showed an image of a chocolate cake and a cappuccino being served.

Unfortunately, whoever gave the green light to the ad overlooked one detail about the coffee cup.

Social media goes haywire over X-rated error

The most attentive viewers on Twitter spotted the detail: a naked man appears in the foam of the cappuccino.

“I didn’t see it at first, but once you see it you can’t unsee it,” one man tweeted.

“I had to *ahem* watch it closely, but it cracked me up,” said another.

Another man tweeted that he was surprised it had been approved.

“A coffee for me, thanks,” one woman tweeted.

“Any chance I can get a printout of this ad?” one person joked.

“Of all the times I’ve been to Chiaros, it never occurred to me that all I had to order was a steaming cappuccino,” one woman joked on Facebook.

“Biggest mistake I’ve ever made. Made my day,” another person wrote.

Restaurant apologizes for “devastating” mistake

On Facebook, Chiaro’s addressed the error, saying that proofreaders and the restaurant failed to capture “the subtle nature of what we thought was a tasteful photo of a cappuccino.”

“We deeply apologize for having let this incident go unnoticed,” Chiaro wrote.

“None of our proofreaders, The Community Connection’s proofreaders, or the printers themselves caught the error before it was printed and circulated. We are working to ensure this does not happen again.”

Chiaro added that it was a “devastating situation.” It is not clear how the image ended up in the ad, but it appears to be a photoshopped version of a stock image.

However, readers of the apology seemed to take it in good humor.

“I wish I had a copy, it’s very funny and we don’t blame you at all. Mistakes happen and thanks for the much needed laugh,” one woman wrote.

Many pledged to visit the restaurant to show their support, with others noting that their simple flyer had now gained them international publicity.
