Shola Shoretire is close to joining Super Eagles centre-back William Troost-Ekong at Greek champions PAOK after rejecting a new deal with Premier League giants Manchester United.
According to reliable transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, PAOK has reached a verbal agreement with the Super Eagles-eligible attacking midfielder to join them.
The deal is expected to be completed next week as the player will travel to Greece in the coming days to complete transfer formalities, including medical tests.
Manchester United fought tooth and nail to retain the services of the former England Under-19 player before his contract expired, but they obviously failed in their bid as the midfielder is now set to move to Greece.
Hoping to take advantage of his contractual situation with the Red Devils, Galatasaray and some clubs from England, Spain, the United States and Saudi Arabia tried to sign him, but lost out to PAOK.
Shoretire found playing time to earn his keep in the Manchester United first team, making just five appearances and was loaned out to Bolton Wanderers in the 2022/2023 campaign to gain more first-team experience.
He is now set to continue his career progression in Greece, where he hopes to have more opportunities to play in the first team, which could be one of the reasons why he decided to join PAOK.
