Professor Alexander Tomov: Limiting the President’s rights was a mistake ᐉ News from Fakti.bg – Bulgaria

Something terrible is happening in the south-east of the country. Yesterday’s statements by Erdogan were met with belligerence by Israel. The attack on Hezbollah was responded to with direct threats by the Iranians. At a time like this, the country needs to consolidate itself. The process of disintegration is very long. In the last four years alone, 15-16 new parties have been registered. In general, the country is facing the problem of replacing the politics of disintegration with a politics of outstretched hands. This was stated by Professor Alexander Tomov from “Bulgarian Social Democracy – Euroleft” on “Day ON AIR”.
According to him, the little time left should be used to bring new actors into power.

“On the left, in the centre and on the right, there are serious attempts at integration. I expect both alliances and the emergence of new entities, but not on the basis of individual leadership ambitions, but on the basis of coordination.“We have very little time, we only have one month to prepare something, but we have to make the most of it. I hope that such things will start appearing within a week,” Professor Tomov added to Bulgaria ON AIR.

Problems in power
According to him, the problem is that with low legitimacy, power disintegrates.

“At the moment, which party is stable? The DPS is at war, the BSP is at war. ‘We continue with change, democratic Bulgaria’ – obviously there are serious problems. Where are we going as a country? The president must also draw very serious conclusions from what is happening. He must find solutions through talks and consultations. People who had nothing to do with our political life began to form first one party and then more parties. This cannot continue,” the guest commented.
According to Professor Tomov, we currently have serious problems in four or five sectors.

“Restricting the president’s rights was a mistake and remains a mistake. The figure of the president is linked to the three powers. Now more experts are needed. In four or five sectors we are at the limit and this can lead to very serious problems for people. Next year will be difficult for people: there will be high electricity prices, there will be lawsuits. People are waiting because they do not know where the electricity will go. “If mistakes are made, irreparable things can happen,” he said.
