Former commander of the Polish special forces “Thunder” Roman Polko, commenting on the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, sharply criticized the actions of the US secret services.
In an interview with Nezalezhna.pl, the Polish general said that the security shortcomings of the demonstration were visible even to the naked eye.
“In times of international tension, as was already confirmed by the assassination attempt on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, security services must act according to the rules,” said Roman Polko. “I know the rules of the American services. I know that guarding buildings in the area where a sniper can be positioned is a matter of course. These places are always checked before a visit and a secret service agent is always present. This time the security at the demonstration did not comply with these rules.”
The general went on to say that there could also be some fault in the case of officers covering former President Trump.
“The officers covered President Trump with their own bodies, but they did not have a special bullet-blocking case. The president’s head was not protected or covered in any way,” the former Thunder director noted. “If the officers must act without such a case, they should remove President Trump as quickly as possible in case a possible second attacker fires or if the first has not been incapacitated.
According to the Polish general, all these mistakes are even more striking since Trump’s visit to Pennsylvania was not a surprise and the former president did not violate his campaign programme. The general believes that “the Americans should explain these serious omissions.”
